This page is created in part, to help make folks aware of some of the many opportunities that God gives this ministry, to teach, equip and minister. So if you would, please check it out and see what God has done, and is doing. Who knows what you'll find. There might be something here for you, or someone you know.
As you may or may not know, there are many misconceptions about those that ride motorcycles. So what we try to do, is look for appropriate opportunities to share with folks, what bikers are really all about. As mentioned in the mission statement earlier, part of what God has called this ministry to do, is to work quietly behind the scenes, helping to create an awareness within the Christian community, of the many needs and opportunities there are to minister to those that ride motorcycles - no matter what make or model of bike they may ride - no matter who they may or may not ride with.
This is done in part, by bringing multi-media presentations to many different churches, groups and organizations, in an effort to help shatter the myths about bikers that Hollywood has so carefully created.
We've discovered in our travels, that there are still many people out there, that think that most everyone that rides a motorcycle is affiliated with a certain motorcycle club, and that they all ride a certain brand of motorcycle. Our goal is to teach folks the truth about bikers and their culture, thereby alleviating the fear and misperceptions that have given bikers as a whole, a questionable reputation.
We also provide seminars that are designed specifically for existing or forming motorcycle ministries, as well as for churches interested in starting their own motorcycle outreach to their communities. These seminars teach the basic protocols (the do's-and-don'ts) of the biker culture, and how to minister within that culture. Learning the unwritten protocols and adhering to them, is paramount to being an effective motorcycle ministry. The credibility and effectiveness of such a ministry can be severely compromised, if any of those protocols are broken.
We are always looking for an opportunity to bring these presentations and seminars to as many people as possible. Armed with the correct information, it is our hope that Christians all over the world, will be able to minister more effectively to the riders in their areas.
So if you think your church, group or organization (or one that you might know of), would like Iron Horse Ministries to bring a presentation or seminar to them, them please contact us. It doesn't matter where they are - we would be honored to go where we are needed.
Now, armed with some good information, lets see what God can do. Runs and rallies are great opportunities to minister directly to the riders themselves. If you are open and alert to God's leading, He will give you opportunities to speak with them. The more events you go to, the more often you'll be seen; the more often you are seen, the more familiar they'll become with you; and over time, the more the relationships will build with them - thus building bridges to Christ.
You may be asking yourself, "How do I know when and where the events are?" There are several ways to find out information about upcoming events in your region. You can pick up flyers or handouts at most motorcycle dealerships and bike shops, or you can check various "Event Calendars" either online or in motorcycle magazines. The reason for checking out different calendars, is the fact that no single calendar can list every event everywhere, so it's best to check several calendars to get the best overall picture of what's really going on. When used together, these resources can help you to determine which events would be the best for you to attend in your area. So, go ahead and feel free to use all the calendars you can, as often as you need.
We, who wear the I.H.M. patch, use these resources to prayerfully go out (two-by-two), wherever, and whenever God leads us. We go to the events, with the purpose of riding or working them. In any case, by simply being there, we are making ourselves available to minister to any and all of those in attendance. And isn't that what it's all about?
Can I Start A Motorcycle
Ministry In My Church
If there are riders in your area, a motorcycle ministry could be a wonderful opportunity to minister to them. The best way to do that, is to be a biker friendly church. In order to be that, your church must simply be willing to accept them as they are - no strings attached - no questions asked.
Now, before you jump into this kind of ministry, let's take a moment and look at a few important questions first:
Do you truly believe that God wants to start a real motorcycle ministry in your church, as apposed to just a church Ride Group?
Do you know where to start, and what to do first?
Are you aware of the unwritten protocols of the biker culture that you MUST follow?
Are you willing and able to make a commitment to do what it takes, to start and maintain a motorcycle ministry through your church?
You may ask, "Do I need a motorcycle to start this kind of ministry in my church?" No - but it sure helps a lot. If you feel that God wants to start a motorcycle ministry in your church, then it's going to need to at least look 'biker friendly'. In order to do that, one of the first things that would need to be done, is to provide official motorcycle parking in a place that is close to the front door, and at the same time is visible to the riders as they pass the church. A motorcycle is kind of like a key, which can help to unlock their hearts.
If you know that this is what God wants for you and your local church body, then please contact us; we would be honored to assist you in building bridges to Christ in your churches 'service area.'
In this section, there are some other ministry opportunities for you to consider being a part of; whether you ride a motorcycle or not; or whether you wear a back patch or not. Just remember, all you need is a heart for people that ride motorcycles, and for those that minister to them.
And so if you will, please continue to prayerfully read; letting God touch your heart; leading you to His desire for you.
We live in very difficult times, and there are many hurting people out there. The members of Iron Horse Ministries (and every other motorcycle ministry for that matter), are kind of like 'soldiers for the cross'. Every time they saddle up, they are going out to do battle with our enemy (Satan). As with any other soldier, they never know what kind of situations they may encounter. Therefore they must be fully prepared and equipped with all the tools they need. In this case, the most important tool is, 'The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God' - the Bible (Ephesians 6:17b).
We want to make sure that every rider has in his or her hands, a Biker Bible (New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs), that they can call their very own. What better way to give them hope in a hopeless world, than by giving them the eternal hope of Christ, through His Word?
Would you like to be a part of helping us to put a Bible into the hand of every rider out there? If so, you can get involved by clicking on the link below, which will take you directly to the Bibles-4-Bikers website. By participating in this effort, you will be taking an active part in this ministry and the work that God has called it to do.
So come, get involved; help us to shed some light into an otherwise dark world. Thank you and may God richly bless you.
From the very inception of Iron Horse Ministries, God instilled a vision to create and maintain a "Biker-Friendly Church Network" (B.F.C.N.). The purpose of this network is:
To help unify the body of Christ (the church).
To make it possible for a rider in need to connect with a Christ centered, Bible believing church body in their area, that will accept them as they are, and minister to them and their families - no strings attached - no questions asked.
To make sure that anyone (that has prayed and asked Jesus to forgive them of their sins and be their personal Lord and Savior), will be able to find a church in their area, that will love on them and disciple them - so that none will fall through the cracks.
This is a God sized vision and undertaking, and we know we can't do it alone. What we're looking for are people like you. People with a willingness to help build bridges to Christ, anywhere in the world.
So, if you know of a Christ centered church in your area that is biker-friendly (or wants to be), then please let us know. All you need to do is click on the link below, which will take you directly to the Biker-Friendly Church Network website. It won't cost you anything but a little time. This is a free service to the churches, so that it might be a priceless blessing for the riders.
Thank you for your participation in such a huge project. The more churches that are on the network, the more opportunities there will be, for God's people to minister to the riders and their families out there. We're looking forward to hearing from you very soon.
Biker Bible Study
We begin this rather unique opportunity with a question: Who can minister to the ministers (no matter who or where they are), while the ministers are out in the field ministering? Answer: We can.
Have you ever found yourself out in the field heading towards an event on a Sunday morning rather than your usual Bible study class? Or perhaps you are just out riding around, thinking about this "Jesus" thing you've heard about. You have some questions, but you're not sure who or what to ask. In either case, wouldn't it be good to be able to hook up with some fellow riders that understand the situation? A place where you are not judged, and all you get is the real deal - without getting preached at? Well, that's exactly what makes this Biker Bible Study so wonderfully unique. It doesn't matter who you ride with, or whether you are a born again Christ follower, or not, you are safe, and you are welcomed - just as you are. No questions asked.
You may ask, "What's the purpose of the Biker Bible Study?" Its purpose is to help connect everyday people with biblical principles (as found in scripture), through everyday topics, relative to everyday life - only it's done - biker style. Furthermore, because this Bible study does not belong to any particular denomination, we can teach and follow the full council of God's Word, without the encumbrances of denominational traditions - which a local church body might have. This, of course, coupled together with a policy of open accountability; means that every effort is made to ensure that everything covered, is screwed on straight - so that nothing gets cross-threaded - so that all you get, is the "real deal" - nothing more, nothing less.
And that's not all. Another rather unique thing about all of this, is it also doesn't matter whether you are at home, or on the road, or whether you use a desktop type computer, or a handheld mobile device, you can be part of this rather unique Bible study - that's just for riders. All you need is a Wi-Fi or a mobile data signal. That's right. This is an online Bible study - but not just any Bible study. God has made it perfectly clear that this is not only to be an interactive live/streaming Bible study, but it is NOT EVER to be recorded. It's setup that way, so that whatever is said in class - stays in class. This is done in part, so that anyone, anywhere (whether here in the U.S.A. or abroad), can actively participate in this study - without fear of local harassment or cultural reprisal. How cool is that.
Speaking of which, one of the features of this conference call system, is that using the built-in camera on the machine, can be an option. If someone absolutely feels that they need to be incognito for a time, then they simply don't have to click on the camera icon when they log-on. They will still be heard - but they won't be seen. All that will be seen, is their E-Mail address. Although this may be a viable option for some, it is our hope and prayer that over time, they will feel safe enough with us, that they will be at ease. To God be the glory.
Now you may be wondering, "So, how can I be part of this?" This is how you can. Just click on the button below and follow the simple (printable) tutorial. The online service you will be signing up with, is made specifically for churches and ministries to use for things just like this - and it's FREE. (However, if you choose to do so, you can donate to help them cover costs. They greatly appreciate any help they get.)
You may be also wondering, "What time is the class held?" It has been set up so that the class starts at 1100 Eastern U.S. time, every Sunday morning. That way, the riders from coast-to-coast-to-coast can more easily attend. However, there is one caveat. Please, don't forget to take "Daylight Savings Time" (from about March to November), into account. Thanks. We hope to see you real soon.
Of all of the unique aspects of Iron Horse Ministries, this may be considered the most unique of them all. For as far as we know, there is nothing else quite like it in the whole world. What I.H.M. offers for its fully patched members, is something likened to a 'college' or a 'seminary' - uniquely purposed to teach, train and equip those who are called of God, to serve Him as true missionaries to bikers.
In a nutshell, God has established Iron Grace explicitly for people that are true 'born-again' believers; who are called of God; are serious about their faith; and are willing to do what it takes to be ALL that God wants them to be. In other words, Iron Grace is for people that have the passion and dedication it takes, to learn all they can; to prayerfully prepare themselves to be sent out into the field (wherever that may be); and to be willing to live and serve God, as a true missionary to bikers - even to the point, if necessary, of taking a 'hit', for the cause of Christ.
So, if you are absolutely dead serious about following the call of Christ in your life; going deeper in your relationship and service with Him; and you feel His call to serve Him as a true missionary to bikers; then this is precisely where you need to be, and what you need to do.
We realize that this aspect of Iron Horse Ministries is NOT necessarily for every member. That's okay. Not everyone is called of God to be a missionary to bikers. If that were not so, there would be motorcycle missionaries everywhere! So, don't be discouraged. Remember, you are a unique warrior. Therefore God has a special assignment, that only YOU can do. So, if He is calling you to serve Him as an I.H.M. member at large, then by all means, be obedient and faithful to THAT call - no matter what! Then, watch how affective you can be, for the King; the Kingdom; and the Saints of God.
